James T. Dietrich, Ph.D.

Assistant Professor of Geography
Prof. Dietrich was hired to take over the lab in 2017, he came to UNI with several years of experience in UAS operations and Structure-from-Motion (SfM) photogrammetry from his Ph.D. work at the University of Oregon and as a Neukom Post-Doctoral Fellow at Dartmouth College.
Prof. Dietrich's primary research interests are in high-resolution remotes sensing of rivers, optimizing UAS-based SfM data collection techniques, and building open source software and hardware for remote sensing and environmental monitoring.

Patrick Pease, Ph.D.

Interim Associate Provost for Academic Affairs & Interim Dean of the Graduate College
Professor of Geography
Prof. Pease founded the LARS lab in 2015 and has been advising students on the use of UAS for a variety of environmental applications. In the Fall of 2017, Prof. Pease will be taking a short break from the lab to act as the Interim Associate Provost for Academic Affairs and Interim Dean of the Graduate College.
